Blog Action Day 2010

Posted on by Lauren M

Today, October 15th, 2010, is Blog Action Day, and MYD is pleased to participate in this global event that brings organizations, companies, and individuals from across the globe together to address a single critical issue that affects all of us.  This year the topic is water, and we'd like to encourage  conservation and awareness of ways we can enact change on both individual and collective scales.

As many municipalities tighten regulations on stormwater and drainage, it is imperative that building industry professionals are aware of the measures that can be taken to minimize development impact, as well as protect water resources from contamination resulting from construction activites.

Considerations during the design phases of a project are critical in this objective, as decisions made at these early stages should be informed by the need to incorporate conservation, reuse, and other water-saving technologies into site and building design.

Education, knowledge and awareness are the initial primary issues of consideration for not only architects and designers, but for all stakeholders, communities, and individuals, as we are all responsible for the protection of our planet's resources. With this knowledge, we can move forward towards a more sustainable future with appropriate action, collectively and as individuals.
