A Modern Kitchen in Mission Viejo: New Photos
One of MYD's projects in Mission Viejo is wrapping up, and in addition to the updated images at our portfolio gallery, here are a few more shots of the finished kitchen space.

The scope included a completely new interior architectural design with a modern aesthetic; after renovating the upstairs, the second phase of this project included a renovation of the kitchen, opening the stair to the main living room, and a reconfiguration of the living/dining spaces.

The kitchen features a new floor plan with an open layout that provides for several gathering spaces and activity zones, while the gray full-height casework at the integrated fridge and pantry paired with rift oak low cabinetry creates a strong visual language and clean background for the linear waterfall island and geometric open shelving extending across the windows and toward the range hood.

The existing oversized angled fireplace was demolished and replaced with a custom natural steel enclosure, sized for two EcoSmart bioethanol burners. The new fireplace orientation and corresponding compact design not only allow for more usable square footage at the dining and kitchen, but the raw steel adds warmth and texture to the space while maintaining the overall modern aesthetic and consistency of materials.

Built-in bookshelves above provide storage for cookbooks and media, and can be easily accessed from the integrated caesarstone bench with generous storage drawers below.
