At the Site: MYD Construction Update
There's been quite a bit of progress at our project in Mission Viejo, and for this modern renovation, the entire first floor is being transformed into a series of comfortable, modern and flexible living, dining and gathering spaces.
Natural materials and dynamic colors balance clean lines and a contemporary design aesthetic with two different, yet complementary, cabinet finishes at the kitchen.
Rift white oak along the exterior wall provides a sense of warmth in the in the varying tones and patterns of the wood, while the gray full-height cabinetry is a neutral gray that relates to the large-format concrete floor tiles.
Another visual counter to the clean minimalism of the Caesarstone and steel surfaces, our custom rift oak screen brings a unique, playful geometry to the space, while serving the functional role of separating the dining and living zones.
A metal railing at the expanded stair opening brings additional light into the living room, while the wide-plank oak flooring we used at Phase I of this remodel is continued into the downstairs living room, media space and bathroom, before transitioning to tile at the kitchen and dining.
Included in the scope of work is the space plan and furniture layout, so the final result will be a cohesive modern interior with character, color and light.
