Before & After: Transforming a Traditional Home
Last year, MYD completed our Villa Park modern addition and renovation- a complete transformation to an existing traditional single family residence in Orange County, Ca.
Construction images and new before-and-after photos indicate the extent of the changes to both the interior and the exterior of the 3,200 SF home while visually conveying the distinctions between the old and the new.
At the main living area above, the central fireplace, associated ornamental casework and storage wall, along with false gable ceiling, were all removed to create an expansive great room open to the new kitchen, redesigned for increased functionality and an enhanced connection to the adjacent living space.
The new orientation and layout enables a more efficient kitchen utility zone while maintaining the open feel of the great room.
This consolidation of function and associated floor plan layout allowed for the creation of an additional bedroom and private bath tucked behind the new kitchen and accessed from both the interior and exterior of the home.
