Upon reviewing the last few posts at MYD's blog, we’ve noted several consistent themes, including:  books, photography and, of course, Louis Kahn.  So, to get the weekend started and incorporate all these elements in today's post, we’re sharing one of our favorite books- LOUIS KAHN DHAKA, published in 2004 by Simonett. 

A beautiful set of two bound volumes, the publication is an object of art in itself. With an introduction by Kahn’s son, Nathaniel (academy-award nominated filmmaker for “My Architect”), the first book consists of  images of Bangladesh and the construction of its Capital Complex, Kahn’s final project that consumed him for over twelve years.  Constructed almost entirely by hand by over 2,000 laborers, the buildings were completed a decade after his death. 

The second volume captures the finished spaces with beautiful photography by  Raymond Meier, making for a unique collection of images rarely seen of  this monumental and meaningful project.
