Exterior Details: Coastal Contemporary Cedar Siding
Progress at MYD's midcentury addition under construction...
Clean wood detailing and a carefully-selected gray stain beautifully conveys the coastal contemporary aesthetic of the updated facade and courtyard enclosure at this project site in Laguna Niguel, Orange County.
At the engineered cedar siding, the warm gray finish applied on-site prior to installation, creates even, subtle tones while maintaining the depth of the clear wood grain, matched to turn the corner for subtle continuity at the cleanly mitered edge.
Another element of this wood installation includes a suspended trellis, attached to the roof structure above with countersunk screws, a detail enhanced by the gap created by the three-inch offset from the new exterior wall, seen below.
The texture and depth at the new facade aptly reflects the character of the coastal location while maintaining the linear forms and minimal massing of the original midcentury forms, a beautiful setting for the new native landscaping, hardscape and exterior decorative details soon to come...
