Dwell on Design: Finds + Favorites

This past weekend, Dwell on Design hosted a three day event at the LA Convention Center featuring programs, presentations and exhibits celebrating modern design.

It's an opportunity to learn about new people, products, and ideas, connect with colleagues and friends, and catch up with the latest innovations in the realms of home, art and interior design.

While it's impossible to cover all the unique finds we'd like to share, here are just a few show highlights spotted on the exhibition floor…

100% California takes a collaborative, curated approach to contemporary craftsmanship in California. We love the wool felt wall art by Meghan Urback- a beautiful example of how to add warmth, texture and visual interest to interior spaces while maintaining a minimalist and modern aesthetic.

Airplantman Designs: Developed by landscape architect Josh Rosen, AirPlantFrame vertical gardens are a truly unique means of fusing environment, art and modern design; without the need for soil, the plants can be placed within the frames in a variety of ways, allowing for flexibility in design and application.

Cerno:  Designed and manufactured in Laguna Beach, Cerno's products combine modern design with LED technology. We have a few ideas of where we'd like to use the acuo sconce (left), but for something on a larger scale, take a look at valeo, a beautiful floor lamp that makes a statement in both size and design.

Danko Design: Peter Danko unites craft and material reuse in his design philosophy and process, creating furniture that is unexpected, playful and green. Modern seating of repurposed automobile parts, including seatbelts and tires (at the ergonomic NoCO2 chair, not shown) convey a distinctive 'eco-modern' aesthetic.

Haand: In addition to producing beautiful ceramic objects for the home, North Carolina-based studio, Haand, custom designs their 'Triangular Tessellation' ceramic installations in collaboration with artist Leigh Suggs- a modular concept that adds dimensionality, pattern, and materiality at interior vertical wall planes.

RRS Inc. Fine Art: These large format ink drawings by LA-based artist Ronald Santos are beautifully conceived and executed, and many have an abstract, architectural feel that would make a one-of-a-kind statement at almost any contemporary living or commercial space.

Vanessa Gade Metal + Design: With a minimalist architectural aesthetic, Vanessa's work incorporates geometry, form, and movement in the context of carefully crafted, sculptural pieces of art. Recent collections take inspiration from San Francisco's buildings and bridges and do so beautifully; visit her site to take a look at the necklace I brought home.
