Updating an Eichler in Orange...
On the boards: an addition an renovation to a mid-century modern Eichler residence in the Fairhills tract of Orange, California.
Designed by architects A. Quincy Jones and Frederick Emmons, the single-level plan is one of the most recognizable of the developer's homes, featuring a central courtyard, open plan, and double gable roof.
Our approach seeks to revisit the minimal, modernist aesthetic of the original home, which has been altered significantly since first constructed in 1964. The open courtyard is restored, while additional updates serve to enhance the indoor-outdoor connection central to these iconic homes.
More drawings, details and information to come as we move forward with the design process for this unique and historically relevant project....
