Transforming the Farnsworth House with Light, Sound + Digital Projection Technology

Luftwerk, the artistic team who illuminated Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water in 2011 is preparing to transform another icon of American architecture with architectural mapping technology and site-specific audio and visual displays in an effort to re-imagine the historic space and create the experience of 'immersive art and design'.

INsite study No. 3, 2012 / limited edition photograph

INsite, the proposed temporary installation at Mies van der Rohe's 1951 Farnsworth House, explores the minimalist, linear forms and translucent nature of the original design.

INsite will transform Ludwig Mies van der Rohe’s masterpiece, the Farnsworth House, into a canvas for projected video and light that dynamically illuminates the structural minimalism and transparency of the house. This temporary intervention creates a new way of experiencing an icon of modern architecture and will not only engage Farnsworth House enthusiasts, but also attract new audiences. via
