From the Studio: Mid-Century Elevation Drawings
For this project currently on the boards, we’re revisiting a familiar mid-century community, Niguel West, in Laguna Niguel.
Located just up the street from a previous renovation, this two-level home occupies a generous hillside site, allowing the additional square footage to expand into the rear yard, and the home to maintain its classic modernist massing at the front facade.
The new elevation celebrates the home’s distinctive mid-century aesthetic with an exterior material palette including board-formed concrete, smooth stucco and cedar siding, establishing a contemporary and cohesive architectural language.
Site walls and landscaping establish a sense of privacy at the new stair leading to the upstairs entry, while maintaining views and access to natural light at the interior living space.
