Mid-century Material Palettes: Concept to Completion
Finish Details // During design development, material palettes are assembled for various architectural surfaces to help establish an aesthetic or aid in the visualization of unbuilt spaces.
Identifying these products and combining elements is a key part of the process that serves to ensure design continuity, as well as provide for complementary textures, colors and tones in the context of the overall architectural forms and massing.

For this mid-century addition and renovation in Laguna Niguel, we shared material palettes early in the design stage to convey an updated modernist feel utilizing contemporary finishes at varying scales.
That said, it’s always interesting to see these concepts translated into real architectural applications, so we thought we’d follow up with a post that compares preliminary design palettes to the final project imagery…
