Occurring on the third Friday of September, PARK(ing) Day is an annual event that began with a single parking space in 2005 in San Francisco. Since then, the event has grown as a platform for creative 'guerilla landscaping', as well as a venue for illustrating the need for public green space, civic participation, and thoughtful community development.
Only a couple blocks away from the famed Portland State Farmers Market in Oregon's capital city, the hotel's courtyard is a prime example of a well-implemented green, or 'living', wall.
This weekend marks the opening of a unique architecture exhibit from Omi International Arts Center, a non-profit organization providing residency and learning opportunities based on the central principle that 'artistic expression is a vehicle that transcends economic, political, and cultural boundaries'.
