The grid approach is a popular one, but there's good reason for the trend. Besides the visual appeal and sense of order created by the geometry of grid layouts, a thoughtful and well-organized arrangement makes it easier for users to scan photos quickly, without having to use drop-down menus or sidebars.
Even though many of us use the garage to enter and exit our homes, the 'formal' entry is of significant importance in terms of architectural design and aesthetics. It's where the user has direct interaction with the building envelope, enabling a tactile relationship with exterior form and material before entering.
