Before + After: Admiralty Island Mid-century
Our recently completed addition and renovation to this modernist home, designed by architect Richard Spencer in Huntington Harbour, incorporates elements of the existing mid-century aesthetic while expanding and updating the waterfront residence with contemporary details.
The addition, which includes an upper level with a new master suite and secondary bedroom, sits towards the rear of the property, maintaining a single story flat-roofed massing at the streetscape. Similar to the original design, the reimagined entry incorporates a courtyard, which opens to a double height foyer and great room beyond.
With landscaping still to come, architectural materials include smooth stucco, resysta siding, and linear textured stone to highlight the horizontality inspired by the original 1967 design.
