Bifold doors: Bringing the outside in...
A few updates from MYD's project site in Fullerton, Orange County...
We've looked at the design process and subsequent construction progress for this project over the past year, and things are really starting to come together at the interior of our Fullerton residential design, one of the few new homes in the area, at a unique site with great views.
Since working through the preliminary concept design, interiors, and moving into initial site work through ongoing construction, we've been updating our project page, as well as sharing construction images here at MYD blog.
Recently, another major element was installed, so today's progress update highlights the corner bifolding door system- a key feature of the main interior space.
The doors function in a few ways: as a window system with one operable door panel (similar to that of a more conventional application), as well as opening completely and folding at each side, allowing for an almost seamless transition from inside to the exterior deck. Whether open or closed, they not only frame the views of the landscape beyond, but create a sense of openness, providing ample natural light at the great room.
Bifolding door systems work well and look fantastic, and are an increasingly popular option in both contemporary and traditional style homes, as they allow for the enclosure of large openings without requiring much floor clearance, giving homeowners more options in terms of interior design and furniture placement.
We'll be sure to share further developments of this modern and contextually-inspired design as progress continues at the jobsite- until then, many thanks for stopping by!
