Project Update: Modern Design in Orange County
A recent post at MYD blog introduced a new project in a mid-century community, here in Orange County, and our project portfolio page has been updated with the latest design development drawings.
After ongoing dialogue, client input, and further study, the initial exploration was refined to establish a final design scheme- one that incorporates elements from several of the preliminary concepts (see the drawings at Design in Practice: 4 Ways to Define the Modern Entry).
The resulting design reflects an updated, contemporary coastal interpretation of the existing mid-century modern exterior, with gray-stained siding transitioning into channel glass abutting a stone feature wall, in a continuous application from interior to exterior for a monolithic effect.
At the enclosed courtyard, a new, elevated flat roof adds height to the light-filled entry space, allowing for ventilation while creating aesthetic interest and movement at the the street-facing exterior elevation.
As work progresses into construction documents and detailing, we look forward to sharing further developments and updates. Stop by the project page for additional drawings or view progress posts here at MYD blog.
