Interior Design + Classic Modern Furniture
Earlier this year, a new cedar rainscreen gave a new, warmer aesthetic to the existing stucco facade at a renovation in San Clemente, California. For that same home, MYD designed and oversaw renovation work at the kitchen and bathrooms, as well as developed the interior design concept and custom casework.
One of the key design elements consistent throughout the project at both the exterior and interior was the inclusion of wood as an architectural feature and element highlighted at specific locations to bring warmth and movement to the existing material palette of stucco and concrete.
The organic lines of the Rudder table, originally designed in 1944 by architect and sculptor Isamu Noguchi, complement the contemporary interior architecture while providing a textural contrast to the steel and marble finishes at the iconic Arco lamp overhead.
Vitra stools bring additional texture and scale to the space, and their geometric forms evoke a playful and modern feel.
